Last year, we implemented different rules for soliciting the T-shirt design and we were rewarded by much larger number of artwork submitted. Please, review the contest rules and, at the end of the post, read also about the run registration and a tip for an event to attend this Saturday.
The Malverne Educational and Fitness Foundation (MEFF)
Request for proposal for a T-shirt design
The MEFF is a non-profit organization supporting educational and fitness projects in the Malverne Union Free School District, NY. One of the foundation’s fundraising activities is organization of a 5K run/walk in October. Each year, the MEFF asks artists to submit a T-shirt design related to the 5K run. The runners vote and the artwork that has received the most votes is selected. The contest is open to any artist who agrees with the following rules.
The artwork must be original, use 2 colors that will stand out on the white T-shirt. It must be suitable for the traditional screen print (no gradients). The artwork will be printed in the front of the shirt and will incorporate the following text: Malverne 5K, 2014.
Rules and Timeframe
Please, submit the artwork in 500×500 pixels .jpeg format to Jan Kasal, contest coordinator using the Contact tab above. Use the same tab for additional questions. Deadline for submission is by 8 p.m. (ET) on August 25, 2014. The artwork (jpeg) will be displayed on this website, and will be judged by run participants. Their votes will determine the winning artwork. The results will be announced on September 3, 2014 on this website. The submissions that were not selected in prior years can be resubmitted. The author of the winning artwork will be asked to supply the artwork via email in editable Adobe Illustrator file format with text converted to outline. The artwork will become a property of the MEFF and the author will be rewarded $100.
To conclude the update on recent developments, I want to point out that the registration forms for the Malverne 5K can be downloaded from the left sidebar under the countdown. The Registration page will give you more detailed information about registration options. The online registration for our 5K, or for the Southwest Nassau Run Series are not yet open at this date.
If you haven’t made plans yet for this Saturday, August 9, I recommend a visit to the Sands Point Preserve at 9 a.m. The runners among you will be able to participate in the 5K run, which course goes partly on a trail in woods, while the remaining family members will enjoy a beautiful ocean view and the Guggenheim estate.
